The Volusia County Orchid Society will present Orchid Treasures, its seventh annual orchid show and sale, on Saturday and Sunday in the Hester Exhibit Hall at the Volusia County Fairgrounds on State Road 44, east of DeLand.
Orchid growers from across the state will have thousands of plants for sale, as well as growing supplies and other orchid-related merchandise. They will offer help with potting and dividing plants for a nominal fee.
Hours for the show will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Admission is $3, with a $1 discount to members of any garden club. Parking is free. For information, call 386-228-3286 or 386-943-8154.
`HARVEY' AT SHOESTRING
The Shoestring Theatre will wrap up its production of the Mary Chase comedy Harvey, with performances today through Sunday at the theater, Washington and Goodwin streets in Lake Helen.
Directed by Kevin Kearney and produced by Jim Neely, the production revolves around Elwood P. Dowd, a middle-aged man played by Skip Lowry, who returns to happier times by envisioning his friend Harvey, a 6-foot-tall rabbit with magical powers.
Performances will begin at 8 p.m. today and Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 for adults and half-price for students.

ROCK OPERA IN DELAND
Jesus Christ Superstar, the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, will continue with performances today through May 19 at the Sands Theater Center in the Cultural Arts Center, 600 N. Woodland Blvd., DeLand.
Jesus Christ Superstar features such well-known songs as "Jesus Christ Superstar," "Herod's Song" and "I Don't Know How to Love Him."
Performances are set for 8 p.m. today, Saturday, Thursday, May 17 and 18 and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday and May 19.

ORMOND OPRY
The Ormond Beach Opry will present a night of musical entertainment at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center, 399 N. U.S. Highway 1.
Performers will include Fascination, Ashley Black, Megan Stackpoole, Charlie Harmer, Michaela Rose, Phaze 3, Lindsay Logsdon, Peter Alden, Mike Fanarro, Jennifer McGill, Dustin Seymour, Willy Bouton, Charlie Allen, the Opry Sisters, Firecracker Four and the Creekers.

RACE FOR THE CURE
Thousands of runners, walkers and drivers will take over Daytona International Speedway on Saturday when the speedway hosts the 7:30 a.m. Race for the Cure and the daylong Cruisers at Daytona event.
The Race for the Cure will bring thousands of runners and walkers to the Speedway to support the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Participants will take to the track at 7:30 a.m. for the co-ed competitive 5K run. Other races will include the co-ed noncompetitive 2.5-mile run-walk, the co-ed 1-mile fun run-walk and the Kiddie Dash. Entry forms and information are available online at www.KomenCentralFlorida.com.
More than 125 PT Cruisers and car enthusiasts will participate in the daylong Cruisers at Daytona event, coordinated by the First Coast PT Cruisers Club.
Cruisers will begin their day at 9 a.m. with a PT Cruiser Show outside the track behind the Winston Tower. Cars entered into the show, along with vendors, will be on display and will be vying for prizes in categories such as Best PT Crusier Graphics to Best PT Cruiser Woody, Flamed or Pure Stock. The free show is open to the public.

Members of the Tomoka Poets will discuss forms of poetry at a workshop at 6 p.m. May 29 at Atlantic Center for the Arts' Harris House Annex, 123 Douglas St., New Smyrna Beach.
The free workshop, "The DNA of Poetry," will discuss villanelle, sonnet and haiku.
