This highly original and theatrical Caribbean adaptation of
the popular fairy tale “The Little Mermaid” sings and dances the story of Ti Moune, the black peasant girl who rescues, nurses and falls
in love with Daniel, a mulatto from a wealthy family. When Daniel is returned to his people, the gods who rule the island
guide Ti Moune on a quest to test the strength of her
love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death. “Once On This
Island” is a director/choreographer’s dream, an intimate show presented in a
dance/movement-driven style reminiscent of story theatre, with minimal – though
colorful – sets and costumes that capture the imagination of the audience. Its
catchy, contemporary, and Caribbean-flavored score by the Tony® Award-winning
songwriting team of Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (“Ragtime” and the
animated film “Anastasia”) includes tender ballads and rousing celebratory
numbers for an ensemble cast of strong singers.

Once upon a time, the young prince
Pippin longed to discover the secret of true happiness and fulfillment. He
sought it in the glories of the battlefield, the temptations of the flesh and
the intrigues of political power (after disposing of his father King
Charlemagne the Great). In the end, he found it in the simple pleasures of home
and family. This hip, tongue-in-cheek, anachronistic fairy tale captivated
Broadway audiences and continues to appeal to the young at
heart everywhere (the show has become a staple on high school and
college campuses). The energetic pop-influenced score by three-time
Oscar®-winning composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz (“Godspell,”
“Children of Eden” and the animated films “Pocahontas,” “The Hunchback Of Notre Dame” and “The Prince Of Egypt”) bursts with one showstopping number after another, from soaring ballads to
infectious dance numbers. Featuring a strong ensemble cast and a show-stealing
song-and-dance narrator, “Pippin” is equally effective as an intimate,
black-box production (as envisioned by the authors) or as original
director/choreographer Bob Fosse’s splashy, dance-driven spectacle, which
included some of the most brilliant staging in Broadway history.

When Elwood P. Dowd starts to
introduce his imaginary friend, Harvey, a six-and-a-half-foot rabbit, to guests
at a society party, his sister, Veta, has seen as
much of his eccentric behavior as she can tolerate. She decides to have him
committed to a sanitarium to spare her daughter, Myrtle Mae, and their family
from future embarrassment. Problems arise, however, when Veta
herself is mistakenly assumed to be on the verge of
lunacy when she explains to doctors that years of living with Elwood's
hallucination have caused her to see Harvey also! The doctors commit Veta instead of Elwood, but when the truth comes out, the
search is on for Elwood and his invisible companion. When he shows up at the
sanitarium looking for his lost friend Harvey, it seems that the mild-mannered
Elwood's delusion has had a strange influence on more than one of the doctors.
Only at the end does Veta realize that maybe Harvey isn't so bad after all. This delightful show is one you will
not want to miss!

"Tragedy tomorrow, comedy
tonight!"
Broadway's greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of
the funniest musicals ever written – the perfect escape from life's troubles.
“A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum” takes
comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000 year old
comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the
infectious energy of classic vaudeville. The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in
which a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the
hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan (Philia)
for his young master (Hero), in exchange for freedom. With its unforgettable zany characters, a
hysterical, perfectly constructed book by Larry Gelbart
(of “MASH” and “City Of Angels” fame) and Burt Shevelove,
and witty Stephen Sondheim songs which are modest n their vocal demands, “A
Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum” allows a brilliant ensemble of
comedic actors to shine.

More
so than any composer and lyricist who have written for the stage, the songs of
Rodgers & Hammerstein have become an integral part
of our everyday lives. We sing them in the shower, we dance to them in
ballrooms, we hear them on the radio and in clubs and,
yes, in elevators and supermarkets too. We still thrill to them on the live
stage in their respective shows, and we teach them to our children. This
stunning collection of compositions places five performers in a theatrical
setting-first "backstage," where the songs are sung
as personal interplay, and then "onstage." While offering the
performers an opportunity to explore the songs within their own styles and
sensibilities, it offers the audience a glorious parade of genuine hits. Looking for the perfect
holiday gift? Tired of shopping and long lines?
Want relief from holiday pressures? You’ll
find the perfect holiday solution at the Bay Street Players with their current
production of Some Enchanted Evening
- the Songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein. Give the gift of music, laughter, and
fun for all ages with tickets to this special holiday musical. Fans of Rodgers and Hammerstein will delight
in this Broadway-style trip down memory lane featuring the great classics of
musical theater and medleys we all know and love from Oklahoma, Carousel, South Pacific, The
King and I, Flower Drum Song, Cinderella, and The Sound of Music.
The music comes to life through the songs and characterizations of the five
performers. Sponsored in part by Bosshardt and Marzek, Plastic Surgery Associates and United Arts of

Shortly after it opened in 1996, the Newark Star Ledger
called I Love You, You’re
Perfect, Now Change "Seinfeld set to pop music." Well, Seinfeld
is no more, but I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change lives on in several cities,
as well as being in its ninth year in New York. Based on the audience reception
at the performances, it shows no signs of slowing down in Chicago, either. After The
Fantasticks ended its run, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change became
Off-Broadway's longest-running musical. In 2002, it became the longest running
musical review of all time, making it the longest running musical review in New
York history, breaking the record set by Smokey
Joe's Cafe. Its New York run has surpassed the runs of Hello, Dolly!, My Fair Lady, Annie, Man of La Mancha, Oklahoma!, The Threepenny
Opera, Pippin, and South Pacific, among others. It just goes to show you
that romance sells. I Love You, You’re
Perfect, Now Change opened at the Westside Theatre on August 1, 1996.
Productions of the show have opened in more than 150 cities worldwide,
including Los Angeles, Toronto, Boston and London, among other cities. Subjects
covered on the musical ride through the modern-day mating game include dating,
romance, marriage, lovers, husbands, wives, and in-laws. Make no mistake, though, I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is
not heavyweight entertainment. However, there are moments, particularly in Act
2, when the poignancy of the show sneaks up on you. Subjects covered in the
show include most of the components of modern day relationships. In fact, it is structured like a relationship - Act 1 deals with dating,
and Act 2 deals with marriage, parenthood, and the death of a spouse. I Love
You, You’re Perfect, Now Change is the perfect date show. It doesn’t matter what stage your relationship is at, or
whether you’re in a relationship at all. This show will speak to you
regardless. Plan ahead, though. Central Florida
productions of this show tend to sell out!

Southeastern Theatre Conference (SETC) March 2006 Invitational Performance
Families will
be rockin' out during this musical chock full of pop,
Motown and Broadway-inspired songs. The comedy centers around
Alexander, who tries anything and everything to avoid moving with his family.
For anyone who has known an impish 8-year-old (or found life changing way too
fast), Alexander's humorous antics will surely ring true. Alexander has just
received some really bad news from his parents. His
dad has taken a job in a city, a thousand miles away, which means that he, his
mom, his dad, and his bossy older brothers, Nick and Anthony, are going to have
to move to a whole new city. And even though his mom
says, “Wait, you’ll like it,” Alexander already knows that he’ll hate it. He’ll hate it because he’ll never have a best friend like
Paul again. And he’ll never have a great sitter like
Rachel again. And he’ll never again have his soccer
team or his car pool or kids who know him or... Anyway, he can’t
bear to leave the people and places he loves, so he decides that he won’t
move. First, he tries to live with three
different neighbors. Then he tries to build a tent so he can live by himself.
Then he decides he’ll hide so that his parents’ll never find him, but that doesn’t work out
either. While Alexander barricades his bed-room door,
his mom and dad and even his brothers find some special ways to make it easier
for Alexander to leave. They also help him to understand that home is “where
your family is, where you’re with the people who love you best of all.” Finally
Alexander agrees to leave, but warns that—Do you hear him? He means it!—he’s not, not, not, not, not, not going to move again!

"The Fantasticks” is a
well-known and beloved musical, which opened Off-Broadway in May 1960 and ran
until January 2002 with 17,162 performances at the Sullivan Street Playhouse.
The final show was sold out for months in advance and
came down with bravoes and tears. The
story is of true love between a boy and the girl next door who searches the
world and fines that there is no better place for love than their own backyard.
Love, feuding fathers, a bandit, a mute and a happy ending
are all the ingredients for romance, mystery and adventure. It is no wonder “The Fantasticks” has
continued to entertain audiences across the globe. "The Fantasticks" is the longest-running legitimate show in
any category in American theatre history. The day it opened, a nationwide civil
defense drill took place, Vice President Richard Nixon and Senator John F.
Kennedy won the Indiana Presidential Primary and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama
was awarded to a musical, "Florello!", by George Abbott, Jerome Weidman, Jerry Bock and
Sheldon Harnick. "The Fantasticks’"
standing in the Guinness Book of World Records is surpassed
only by Agatha Christie’s "The Mousetrap",
which opened in London in 1952. However, in 1974, "The Mousetrap"
moved from the Ambassador Theatre to the St. Martins, and so The Fantasticks is the world’s longest running show of any
category still running in its original theatre.
