REVIEW: Daytona Playhouse Premiers New Play

The Daytona Playhouse, nestled away at 100 Jessamine Blvd. on the Halifax Riverfront celebrates its 50th year of providing Broadway quality act each session.  The current run is entitled, ‘I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change’.

On its opening night last Friday evening, the auditorium was only half-capacity, which was surprising to me.  The show was nothing short of amazing!  The director / choreographer / musical director, Timothy D. Turner, deserves a ‘Tony Award’ for the way his cast performed.  Four actors portrayed 56 different characters.  It was fantastic the way each character added wit and value to the play.  Carole Fell Rohrbeger, Cory Sowers, Nicole Smith and Aaron Collins took me on a roller coaster ride of jovial delight.

This play is a must see for anyone who is dating, thinking of dating or married.  This is simply on of those shows in a season filled with top notch musicals provided by the Daytona Playhouse.  Tickets are prices at a comfortable $15 per show.  If you are looking for a nice night out that is inexpensive.  I highly recommend checking out the Daytona Playhouse.  They even have special group rates and gift certificates.

I asked the playhouse’s Vice-President of Publicity, Linda Kalaydjian about the poor turnout for such a fabulous show.  Her reply was, “People just don’t know we’re here.”

If you want to scratch your cultural bug, no need to go all the way to Orlando.  The answer is right here in Daytona Beach just over the Mason Bridge.  Check it out!
