Guys & Dolls
Music and Lyrics by Frank Loesser, Book By Joe Swerling and Abe Burrows
Based on a Story & Characters by Damon Runyon
Directed by Darlene J. Lentz
Musical Direction by Timothy D. Turner

Set in Damon Runyon's mythical New York City, this Broadway classic introduces us to colorful characters who have become legends in the canon: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight "mission doll," out to reform the evildoers of Times Square; Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet and ends up falling in love; Adelaide, the nightclub performer whose chronic cold is brought on by the fact she's been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiancé, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game.  Everything works out in the end, thanks to the twists and turns of the hilarious, fast-paced book which takes us from Times Square to Havana to the sewers of Manhattan, with a bright, brassy immortal score. Exuberant, irreverent and lighthearted, Guys And Dolls is considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy.

Jesus Christ, Superstar
Lyrics by Tim Rice with Music by Andrew Lloyd Weber

Directed by Darlene J. Lentz
Musical Direction by Timothy D. Turner
Production by Rivertown Players of DeLand, Florida

Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's groundbreaking "rock opera" changed the face of musical theater when it debuted on Broadway in 1971. Telling the story of the last seven days in the life of Jesus, "Superstar" dramatizes Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, the unrest caused by his preaching and popularity, his betrayal by Judas, the trial before Pontius Pilate, and his ultimate crucifixion.  This production was one of the most successful productions in the history of The Sands Theater Center.

The Christmas Post
by Deborah Craig-Claar& Robert Sterling
Directed by Timothy D. Turner
Musical Direction by Timothy D. Turner

Norman Rockwell's paintings seem to spring to life before your very eyes in the holiday musical, "The Christmas Post"! It is December 24th, 1947 and the streets of Homesboro, Indiana are bustling with shoppers, carolers, and Newsies hawking the Christmas Eve edition of The Post. There is excitement in the air and a sense that anything can happen. And boy does it!  Remembering the days when The Saturday Evening Post found its way into American homes and hearts, this Broadway style musical is fast and fun, yet offers a clear message of the true meaning of Christmas in its entertaining dialogue and drama. The Christmas Post takes the audience into a world of ordinary Americans who, just like people today, need to rediscover their faith in Jesus and be reminded of what Christmas is really all about.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
by Kathryn Schultz Miller
Directed by Darlene J. Lentz

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Washington Irving's spooky classic, is presented with all the thrills, chills and laughs that keep young audiences on the edge of their seats.  The storybook tale revolves around the main characters--the bumbling, awkward schoolteacher, Ichabod Crane, the coquettish Katrina and Ichabod's brutish rival, Brom Bones.  As much fun as the play presents, it saves the best for last--the ride of the headless horseman. This adaptation remains dedicated to the spirit and storyline of Washington Irving's work and expertly involves young people with lots of suspense and comedy.  Audience participation is carefully written in the script and adds a spark of spontaneity. A perfect Halloween treat, but don't hesitate to put it anywhere in your season, Ichabod brings them out any time of year!

"This adaptation, by Kathryn Schultz Miller, is both funny and simple for a young audience to understand. an important consideration, full of shivers and merriment." - The Orlando Sentinel
