![]() Evita
Lyrics by Tim Rice with Music by Andrew Lloyd Weber Directed by Amy Avalon & Barbara Saldriago Musical Direction by Timothy D. Turner Auditions March 20 – 21 from 1 – 5 p.m. The hit musical based on the life of Evita Duarte, a B-picture Argentinean actress who eventually became the wife of Argentinean president and dictator Juan Perón, and the most beloved and hated woman in Argentina. The show brings to life the dynamic persona of Eva Peron, wife of former Argentine dictator, Juan Peron. Beginning with the young, ambitious Eva, the musical follows her methodic rise to sainthood in her homeland. The story tells of the enormous wealth and power she gained and the means by which she became the beloved Evita. Told live thorough a compelling score that fuses haunting chorales with exuberant Latin, pop and jazz influences, Evita creates an arresting theatrical portrait as complex as the woman herself. |

![]() Pump Boys & Dinettes
Conceived and written by Cass Morgan, Debra Monk, Jack Foley, Jim Wamm, John Schimmel& Mark Hardwick Directed by Timothy D. Turner Musical Direction by Timothy D. Turner As the house opens, Pump Boys Jim, Eddie, Jackson and L.M. come out on stage to tune their instruments. Besides being 'Pump Boys', they are actors, singers, dancers and musicians. While they are busy tuning and chatting, the Dinettes, Prudie and Rhetta, are preparing their Diner for opening and have a little chat with the incoming curious audience. Once when everybody is seated, the show can begin. Pump Boys and Dinettes -- A Rock 'n Roll - Country & Blues Musical Revue -- is the sort of show that feeds off the energy and pleasure of its audience, celebrating life and love in a small, southern town. Half of the clever setting is a country diner out on Highway 57, somewhere between Frog Level and Smyrna, and the other half is a gas station, meant to be located on the other side of the highway. Its characters are four guys who pump gas, and two gals, the Cupp sisters, waitress/proprietors of the Double Cupp Diner across the highway. These are six relentlessly cheerful people out to have a good time. |

![]() A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum
by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart with Music & Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim Directed by Bob Cook Musical Direction by Timothy D. Turner Production by Sands Theater Center Mainstage of DeLand, Florida "Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!" Broadway's greatest farce is light, fast-paced, witty, irreverent and one of the funniest musicals ever written – the perfect escape from life's troubles. “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum” takes comedy back to its roots, combining situations from time-tested, 2000 year old comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville. The result is a non-stop laugh-fest in which a crafty slave (Pseudolus) struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan (Philia) for his young master (Hero), in exchange for freedom. |
